Step 1. Magister Mirien in Dion

Teleport to Town of Dion: Magister Mirien stands in the temple, about 1,100 northeast of the teleport. Only Human Wizards, Elven Wizards and Dark Wizards from level 35 can take the quest. Click "Accept the Trial of the Scholar" to get Mirien's 1st Sigil, and on the first take — 168 Dimensional Diamond.

Step 2. High Priest Sylvain

In the same Town of Dion temple, about 650 north of the teleport, stands High Priest Sylvain. Click "I will participate." to get the High Priest's Sigil and Sylvain's Letter: cleansing the Execution Grounds takes a Crystal of Purity, and only Maria can make one.

Step 3. Maria at the Dion grocery

In Town of Dion, Maria stands in the grocery store, about 4,500 southeast of the teleport. Click "We must have the crystal in order to purify the execution grounds!" — Maria tells you the crystal recipe was stolen and gives you Maria's 1st Letter for the captain of the guard.

Step 4. Captain Lucas

Captain Lucas stands at the exit of Town of Dion, about 4,800 south-southeast of the teleport. Just talk to him — he takes the letter and gives you Lucas's Letter: the thief has been at large for a month, and the captain jokingly suggests a fortune-teller.

Step 5. Maria again

Return to Maria with the captain's letter. She remembers an old family friend — an astrologer in Floran Village — and gives you Maria's 2nd Letter.

Step 6. Astrologer Creta in Floran Village

From Town of Dion teleport to Floran Village: Astrologer Creta stands by the village warehouse. Click "Give Maria's Letter", then "Ask about the thief" and "Ask about the clue" — Creta gives you Creta's 1st Letter: her reading needs an object from the scene of the theft.

Step 7. Lucilla's handbag

Return to Maria in Dion. Click "Ask for details about the day that the incident took place.", then "The handbag will give us some clue." — on the day of the theft a friend left her handbag with Maria, and Maria gives you Lucilla's Handbag.

Step 8. Creta's painting

Take the handbag to Creta in Floran Village. Click "Ask if this is a clue", then "Ask her to draw" — the astrologer draws the thief's shadow: Creta's Painting1.

Step 9. A painting for Lucas

Show the painting to Maria in Dion — she can't make out the shadow and gives you Creta's Painting2 for the captain.

Step 10. The thief's shadow

Take the painting to Captain Lucas at the town exit and click "It is the reflection of the criminal". The captain recognizes a Leto lizardman and gives you Creta's Painting3.

Step 11. Maria sends you after the lizardmen

Be sure to talk to Maria once more: only after this talk do the lizardmen start dropping the scraps of her scroll.

Step 12. Leto Lizardman Warrior

From Town of Oren teleport to the Plains of Lizardmen: Leto Lizardman Warriors lv. 38, level 38, live north of the arrival point, from 4,000 to 10,000. You need 5 Brown Scroll Scrap — they drop with a 50% chance × quest rate.

Step 13. Crystal of Purity

Take the scraps to Maria in Dion and click "Wait for the crystal to be completed" — she pieces the recipe together and gives you the Crystal of Purity.

Step 14. Symbol of Sylvain

Take the crystal to High Priest Sylvain in the Dion temple — he gives you the Symbol of Sylvain.

Step 15. Mirien's second sigil

Talk to Magister Mirien in the same temple — she takes Sylvain's symbol and gives you Mirien's 2nd Sigil. The next examiner is Grand Magister Jurek in Giran.

Step 16. Grand Magister Jurek in Giran

Teleport to Town of Giran: Grand Magister Jurek stands in the Mystic Guild, about 5,800 south-southeast of the teleport. Click "Agree to the test", then "Participate in the investigation" to get the Grand Magister's Sigil and Jurek's List. The trophies drop only while you carry this list.

Step 17. Three trophies for Jurek

Collect them in any order; every trophy drops with a 50% chance × quest rate.

From Giran teleport to Dragon Valley: Shackles lv. 45, level 45, roam northeast of the arrival point, from 1,500 to 9,000. You need 2 Shackle's Scalp; Shackles are strong — better go in a party.

From Giran teleport to Breka's Stronghold: Breka Orc Shamans lv. 34, level 34, walk around the fortress with the other Breka orcs. You need 5 Shaman's Necklace.

From Dion teleport to the Plains of Dion: Monster Eye Destroyers lv. 26, level 26, float all over the plains. You need 5 Monster Eye Destroyer Skin.

Step 18. Symbol of Jurek

Take the trophies to Jurek in the Giran Mystic Guild — he gives you the Symbol of Jurek and sends you back to Mirien.

Step 19. Mirien's final challenge

Return to Mirien in the Dion temple and click "Take the final challenge". The third sigil is given only from level 36: at 35 Mirien hands you Mirien's Instruction and asks you to come back later. At 36 you get Mirien's 3rd Sigil — the last task comes from Elder Cronos.

Step 20. Elder Cronos in Hunters Village

Teleport to Hunters Village: Elder Cronos stands by the bridge, about 850 east-northeast of the teleport. The old man asks why you study magic — any answer leads to the test. Then click "Take the test", "I am ready!" and "Where would I look for it?" to get Crono's Sigil and the Cronos Letter: you must find four chapters of the Scriptures of Knowledge.

Step 21. Magister Dieter in Giran

Teleport to Town of Giran: Magister Dieter stands in the Mystic Guild next to Jurek, about 5,800 south-southeast of the teleport. Click "Ask about the whereabouts of the books", "Ask what happened afterwards", "Introduce Astrologer Creta" and "Don't worry. I will handle it." to get Dieter's Key for a reading.

Step 22. Creta and Dieter's key

Take the key to Creta in Floran Village. Click "Explain your situation", then "Ask whether she has found the clue" to get Creta's 2nd Letter.

Step 23. Dieter's diary

Return to Dieter in Giran. Click "Read Creta's letter", then "Take your time and try to remember." to get Dieter's Letter and Dieter's Diary.

Step 24. Trader Edroc

Teleport to Hunters Village: Trader Edroc stands in the weapon shop, about 2,000 west-northwest of the teleport. Click "It is all in the letter." — he remembers the old theft and gives you Raut's Letter Envelope.

Step 25. Raut in Gludin

Teleport to Gludin Village: Warehouse Freightman Raut stands by the warehouse, about 3,900 south-southwest of the teleport. Click "I don't understand what's going on." — Raut hands over Scripture Chapter 1 and Strong Liquor for his brother.

Step 26. Drunkard Triff at the harbor

From Gludin Village run west-southwest about 13,000 to the harbor: Drunkard Triff drinks on the pier of Gludin Harbor. Click "Give him Strong Liquor", "Ask about his friends" and "What happened to the Books of Intelligence?" to get Triff's Ring. Chapters 2 and 3 and Poitan's notes are given only with this ring.

Step 27. Warehouse Keeper Valkon

Teleport to Town of Giran: Warehouse Keeper Valkon stands by the warehouse, about 1,300 north of the teleport. Click "Please give me the Scriptures of Knowledge: Volume II.", "I will pay the debt." and "Accept the proposal" — no payment needed: Valkon gives you Valkon's Request and asks for a Crystal of Purity.

Step 28. Maria's second crystal

Teleport to Town of Dion to see Maria — for Valkon's request she hands you another Crystal of Purity right away.

Step 29. Blacksmith Poitan

While in Town of Dion, drop by the forge: Blacksmith Poitan stands about 4,100 east of the teleport. Just talk to him to get Poitan's Notes: the fourth chapter was bought long ago by Elder Casian of the Wasteland.

Step 30. Scripture Chapter 2

Take the crystal to Valkon in Giran — he gives you Scripture Chapter 2.

Step 31. Grandis in Death Pass

From Giran teleport to Dragon Valley: Grandis lv. 40, level 40, live in the Death Pass gorge, the nearest about 6,000 from the arrival point. The Hardin's Private Academy teleport works too — about 7,000. Scripture Chapter 3 drops with a 30% chance × quest rate and only while you carry Triff's Ring.

Step 32. Elder Casian in the Wasteland

From Gludin Village teleport to the Wasteland: Elder Casian stands in the wasteland, about 1,200 southwest of the arrival point. With Poitan's notes and chapters 1–3, click "Tell him that you will show him chapter 1, 2 and 3 if he shows you chapter 4.", then "I will help." to get Casian's List: the copy needs four materials.

Step 33. Four materials for Casian

The materials drop with a 100% chance (the quest rate multiplies the amount) and only while you carry Casian's List; any order works.

From the Town of Dion teleport run east about 28,000 to the Ghouls lv. 32, level 32. They roam the execution field — the Execution Grounds. You need 10 Ghoul's Skin.

From Giran teleport to Dragon Valley: Fettered Souls lv. 38, level 38, live in Death Pass together with Grandis, the nearest about 6,400 from the arrival point. You need 5 Fettered Soul's Ichor.

From Giran teleport to Breka's Stronghold and run east about 26,000 to the Medusas lv. 34, level 34. They live in the gorgon garden by the Necropolis of Martyrdom. You need 12 Medusa's Blood.

From Town of Oren teleport to the Ivory Tower: Enchanted Gargoyles lv. 44, level 44, live in the crater by the tower, 3,000–6,000 from the arrival point. You need 5 Enchanted Gargoyle's Nail; the gargoyles are tougher than the rest — better go in a party.

Step 34. Scripture Chapter 4

Return to Casian in the Wasteland and click "What?" — he makes his copy and gives you Scripture Chapter 4.

Step 35. Symbol of Cronos

Teleport to Hunters Village and bring the four chapters to Cronos. Click "I thought there were 6 of them?", then "Ask about absolute geometry" to get the Symbol of Cronos.

Step 36. Mark of Scholar

Return to Mirien in the Dion temple — she gives you the Mark of Scholar, 80,265 XP and 30,000 SP. The other Sorcerer marks are Testimony of Trust and Test of Magus, the Spellhowler's are Testimony of Fate and Test of Magus, the Spellsinger's are Testimony of Life and Test of Magus; the full path is in the Sorcerer 2nd class quest, Spellhowler 2nd class quest and Spellsinger 2nd class quest guides, and the Necromancer, Warlock and summoners start from the 2nd class quest hub.

How many mobs to kill at your rate

The scroll scraps, Jurek's trophies and the third chapter drop with a 30–50% chance, and the quest rate multiplies the chance. Casian's materials drop with a 100% chance — the rate multiplies the amount per kill. On some servers quest items drop one at a time at any rate — then use the x1 column.
