Path to a Scavenger — Spoiler 1st Class Quest Guide

The spoiler's first class quest is Path to a Scavenger. A Dwarven Fighter takes it at level 19 (18 on some servers) from Collector Pippi in the Dwarven Village. You track down Master Toma, bring him 5 Honey Jars and 20 tarantula Beads, receive the Ring of Raven and change class to Scavenger at level 20.

In Interlude the spoiler's first class quest is called Path to a Scavenger; later chronicles renamed it Path of the Scavenger. The quest itself is easy: the monsters are low level and everything happens in dwarven lands. Three things eat up the time — finding Master Toma, hunting Hunter Bears and collecting tarantula Beads. Below is the fastest way through each of them.

Steps and numbers in this guide are for Interlude and based on the scripts of open-source server builds. Classic and later chronicles differ in details, and servers with modified logic may not match these numbers.

Mion's deliveries: getting the letter faster

Collector Pippi in the Bronze Key Guild, Dwarven Village, Lineage 2
Collector Pippi starts the spoiler 1st class quest.

Pippi sends you to Mion, the only one who knows where his brother, Master Toma, is. In return Mion wants you to work as a courier. Each time he hands you a package for one of three villagers, chosen at random: a potion for the priest Zimenf, an axe for the trader Shari or an ingot for the blacksmith Bronk. Deliver it, collect the payment, return to Mion and take the next one.

Trader Mion in the Dwarven Village, Lineage 2
Trader Mion hands out the deliveries and knows where Master Toma is.

Do five deliveries honestly and Mion tells you where his brother is. There is a shortcut. After the third delivery, take the fourth package, talk to Mion again right away and answer “No!” to his question. He gets offended but gives you Mion's Letter and says his brother went to the northern coast.

Where to find Master Toma

Toma never stays put: every half hour he moves to one of three spots up north, and he can also stay where he was. The spots are:

  • near the Abandoned Coal Mines;
  • near the Mithril Mines;
  • on a small island off the northern coast, which you reach by swimming.
Master Toma in the dwarven lands, Lineage 2
Master Toma never stays put: look for him near the mines and on the island off the coast.

If Toma isn't there, check the other two spots. Start with the mines: the Dwarven Village gatekeeper teleports you there, while the island means a swim. Waiting at one spot for more than half an hour is pointless — by then he has definitely moved.

How many Hunter Bears to kill for a Honey Bear

Honey Bear and Hunter Bears in the Western Mining Zone, Lineage 2
A Honey Bear appears only after twenty-plus Hunter Bears, and it gives honey only under your Spoil.

This is the main question of the quest: forums are full of players asking why dozens of bears produced no Honey Bear. In open-source Interlude builds it works on a counter, not on luck:

  • your first 21 Hunter Bear kills cannot spawn a Honey Bear at all;
  • from the 22nd bear the chance grows by 10% with each kill;
  • the Honey Bear appears on the 31st bear at the latest, around the 25th on average;
  • the counter resets once a Honey Bear spawns.

The counter only runs after Toma gives you the Bear Picture, and only bears you finish off yourself count. Bears killed before talking to Toma or by your party don't count.

How many Honey Bears you need depends on the server's quest rate: one Honey Bear drops as many Honey Jars as the quest drop multiplier.

Quest rateHoney Bears neededHunter Bears to kill, on average
x15about 123
x23about 74
x3–x42about 49
x5 and higher1about 25

On low rates this is the longest part of the quest. If you'd rather skip the long hunt, look at servers with a rate of x5 and higher, where a single Honey Bear is enough.

Tarantula Beads: how many to kill

Toma's second request is 20 Beads. They come from Plunder Tarantulas lv. 17 and Hunter Tarantulas lv. 16 living on the same coast. A Bead drops only if the tarantula was under your Spoil and you finished it off. Plunder Tarantulas are almost twice as good: a 60% chance versus 33%.

Plunder Tarantulas drop Beads almost twice as often as Hunter Tarantulas.

Closest or farthest parcel: which to choose

After you hand over the Beads, Toma asks which friend should get the parcel — the closest or the farthest. Choose “The closest one.”: the parcel goes to Yasheni in Schuttgart. He gives you the Ring of Raven on the spot, and the quest is complete.

“The one farthest away.” takes much longer. You carry the parcel to Raut in Gludin, who asks you to find his nephew Torai in Dragon Valley, give him a return scroll and then come back to Gludin for the ring. The reward is the same either way, and the closest option saves you the trip to Dragon Valley.

Warehouse Chief Yasheni in Schuttgart takes Toma's parcel and gives you the Ring of Raven.

How to change class to Scavenger

A Warehouse Chief of the dwarven guild changes your class from level 20. You need the Ring of Raven in your inventory; it is taken during the change. In Interlude that is Moke in Gludin or Rikadio in Gludio. In Schuttgart Alder changes classes, but not every Interlude server has him; in Classic and High Five he is always there. The Dwarven Village itself can't change your class; the NPCs there only explain how to get it.

Scavenger is the spoiler's first step. Next comes the spoiler 2nd class quest for Bounty Hunter, and at level 76 the third class, Fortune Seeker. If you want a crafting dwarf instead, you need a different quest — the Artisan 1st class quest.

If something goes wrong

Killed lots of Hunter Bears, but no Honey Bear?
Make sure you have already given Toma Mion's letter and received the Bear Picture — bears don't count before that. You must finish the bears yourself; party kills don't count. A Honey Bear never appears before the 22nd bear.
The Honey Bear died, but no Honey Jar?
The jar drops only if your Spoil landed on the Honey Bear and you finished it off. Wait for the successful Spoil message before killing it. If Spoil failed, you'll have to kill about 25 Hunter Bears again.
The Honey Bear disappeared?
A Honey Bear lives for about 5 minutes after it spawns. Don't wander far from where it appeared.
No Beads from tarantulas?
You need your Spoil on the tarantula and your final hit. Without Spoil, Beads never drop.
Can't find Toma?
He changes spots every 30 minutes: near the Abandoned Coal Mines, near the Mithril Mines and on an island off the northern coast. Check all three.
Pippi won't give the quest?
Only a Dwarven Fighter of level 19+ (18+ on some servers) can take it. If the Ring of Raven is already in your inventory, the quest is not given again.
Can't hand in the Ring of Raven?
A Warehouse Chief of the dwarven guild changes your class from level 20: Moke in Gludin or Rikadio in Gludio. Not every Interlude server has Alder in Schuttgart. The Dwarven Village can't change your class.
