The Swordsinger (Sword Singer, SWS) is an Elven fighter with songs: each song buffs the whole party for two minutes while the Swordsinger stays in melee with a sword. Below is the Interlude guide: Swordsinger skills with numbers from the datapack, how much MP a song set costs and how to sing next to a Bladedancer, song enchanting, gear for every grade, where to level from 20 to 80, dyes, subclasses and the path to Sword Muse.
Swordsinger at a glance
| Role | melee support: songs for the whole party within 1,000 for 2 minutes, control with |
| Weapon | one-handed sword or blunt — |
| Armor | heavy: |
| Dyes | in a party CON and DEX at the cost of STR, solo STR and CON at the cost of DEX; no MEN dyes |
| Where to level | 20–40 — Catacomb of the Heretic, The Pilgrim's Necropolis, The Ant Nest; 40–52 — Garden of Eva, Catacomb of the Branded, Alligator Island; 52–61 — Catacomb of the Apostate, The Patriot's Necropolis, The Giant's Cave; 61–76 — Tower of Insolence, Swamp of Screams, The Giant's Cave; 76–80 — Imperial Tomb, Hall of Flames, Ketra Orc Outpost |
At level 76 the Swordsinger becomes the Sword Muse. Elven Fighter stats are even: STR 36, CON 36, DEX 35, while WIT 14 and MEN 26 leave a fighter little MP, and songs in a row burn through it fast. The Swordsinger's partner is the Bladedancer with dances; the same Elven Knight also leads to the Temple Knight tank. Guide for another chronicle — Swordsinger in High Five.

Swordsinger songs in Interlude — what they give and from which level
A song lasts 2 minutes on every party member within 1,000 of the Swordsinger, the singer included; 2.5-second cast, 10-second reuse. Each song has one level: learn it once and it never grows. Songs are not magic: on most servers their cast speeds up with attack speed, not casting speed.
| Song | From level | Effect | When to sing |
|---|---|---|---|
| 40 | M. Def. ×1.3 | against mages | |
| 43 | dark resistance +20% | dark magic | |
| 46 | Speed +20 | travel, PvP | |
| 49 | critical rate +100% | fighter and archer parties | |
| 52 | HP regeneration ×1.2 | long farming, solo | |
| 55 | P. Def. ×1.25 | almost always | |
| 58 | Evasion +3 | against fighters | |
| 62 | fire resistance +30% | fire mages and bosses | |
| 66 | max HP ×1.3 | almost always | |
| 70 | wind resistance +30% | wind mages | |
| 74 | reflects 20% of damage | the tank on a raid |
Song of Vengeance only returns damage from regular hits: skills and bow shots are not reflected. All 11 Sword Singer songs together cost 6,747,000 SP — less than any of the Swordsinger's big skills.
How much MP songs in a row cost
The first song costs 60 MP, each next one 30 MP more. Every song and dance already on the Swordsinger counts, the Bladedancer's dances included.
| Songs and dances already on you | Next song costs |
|---|---|
| 0 | 60 MP |
| 1 | 90 MP |
| 2 | 120 MP |
| 3 | 150 MP |
| 4 | 180 MP |
| 5 | 210 MP |
Five songs in a row cost 600 MP, six cost 810 MP. At the 3rd class the
Inner Rhythm passive sets song MP cost to ×0.9 (540 MP for five songs).
Song of Champion counts toward the total itself but cuts song MP cost by another ×0.8: sung first, it costs 54 MP, and the five songs after it come to about the same 540 MP as without it.
Hence the "split": the Swordsinger and the Bladedancer stand on opposite sides of the party so songs and dances land on the group but not on each other — then the Bladedancer's dances do not raise the price of your next song. If you buff side by side, whoever has more songs or dances goes first, then you alternate.
Songs and buffs: what stacks
A target keeps one effect of each type (stackType in the server code). Every song has its own type that matches no buff of any other class, and Bladedancer dances have their own types too. So
Song of Earth works together with Shield and
Chant of Shielding,
Song of Warding with
Magic Barrier and
Chant of Fire,
Song of Wind with
Wind Walk. Only the Swordsinger's personal skills overlap:
| Swordsinger skill | Same type in other classes | What stays |
|---|---|---|
| all give ×1.3 at max level — one of them, no need for both | ||
| level 2 | ||
| Might and Shield (Prophet, Elven Elder, Shillien Elder), | those buffs rank higher in the stack — the aura is dropped | |
| Cripple (Tyrant), Hamstring (Dark Avenger), | one slow of this type on the target | |
| Shackle (Dark Avenger, Paladin), | they don't stack, the last one applied stays: Shackle on top of | |
| one silence of this type |

Solo
Up to level 40 the Elf levels alone. The Elven Fighter has
Power Strike, the Elven Knight has heavy armor, a shield,
Elemental Heal and
Ultimate Defense for emergencies: P. Def. +1,800 and M. Def. +1,350 for 30 seconds, but you cannot move, 30-minute reuse. The Sword Singer has no single-target attack skill of its own:
Power Strike stays at the Elven Fighter level, while
Sword Symphony and
Psycho Symphony hit an area and rarely. Solo Swordsinger play is plain sword hits under your own Earth and Life, so it levels slower than damage classes, and at the 2nd class a party pays better.
In a party
Songs last 2 minutes, not 20 like healer buffs — the Swordsinger re-sings the set every two minutes and keeps MP for it. Before the pull — songs; in combat — sword hits and control:
Arrest pulls a mob off the mage and holds it for 8 seconds,
Psycho Symphony slows the pack around you for 30 seconds.
Charm lowers a mob's aggression toward the Swordsinger when an extra mob switches to you. On raids the Swordsinger sings
Song of Renewal first, then the Bladedancer, then you alternate.

The whole 2nd class tree costs 82,409,000 SP, and almost none of it goes to songs. Order:
- Songs — the day they open. They are cheap, and the party gets more from them than from any other skill.
Sword Blunt Mastery and
Magic Resistance — 9,936,000 SP each for all levels, keep them at your level;
Focus Mind costs 2,261,000 SP.
Arrest and
Psycho Symphony — 9,379,000 SP each: control in party and PvP.
Sword Symphony is cheaper at 3,382,000 SP.
Charm,
Elemental Heal and
Entangle — about 9.9M SP each and rarely pressed in a party: take them last.
Spellbooks. By Interlude code level 1 of
Spirit Barrier needs a
Spellbook: Spirit Barrier: no shop sells it, it drops from the Enchanted Monstereye lv. 41 (level 41, the crater by the Ivory Tower) at 1.53%. Many servers disable spellbooks for regular skills — then
Spirit Barrier is learned for SP.
Divine Inspiration is never learned for SP.

The whole 3rd class costs 363,010,000 SP:
Song of Silence 80M,
Symbol of Noise 150M,
Song of Champion and
Inner Rhythm 32M each. Sword Muse songs cannot be enchanted.
The Swordsinger gives
Battle Force to someone else and cannot cast it on itself, so the effect for
Symbol of Noise has to come from the 3rd class fighters in your party — all of them learn
Battle Force, from the Duelist and Titan to the Spectral Dancer. The second effect level means two party members channel
Battle Force on the Swordsinger at once; cast
Symbol of Noise (5-second cast) while their channel lasts. By code
Symbol of Noise needs an
Ancient Tactical Manual: Symbol of Noise — it drops from the Velociraptor lv. 86 (level 86, Primeval Isle) at 2.94%, but it has no spawn in aCis, so on some servers the manual cannot be farmed.
Swordsinger song enchanting
Enchanting opens at level 76: a skill has two routes up to +30, and you pick one. Each step costs SP and EXP, the first one also a
Secret Book of Giants. +1 succeeds at 82% at level 76. The chance for +4 is 40% at level 76 and 96% at 80, for +10 — 2% at level 76 and 73% at 80. A failure usually resets the skill to its normal level.
| Skill | Route 1, at +30 | Route 2, at +30: MP without the initial cost | SP per route |
|---|---|---|---|
| The 11 Sword Singer songs, from | lasts 285 seconds | 22 MP instead of 60 | 30,794,000 |
| lasts 2,400 seconds | MP 10 | 30,794,000 | |
| lasts 2,400 seconds | MP 8 | 30,794,000 | |
| power 100 instead of 80 | MP 20 | 30,794,000 | |
| higher skill level for the success chance | power 90 instead of 70 | 43,131,000 | |
| heals with 646 power instead of 546 | MP 140 | 55,451,000 |
For a Swordsinger the key one is the duration route on songs: a set lasts almost 5 minutes, you re-sing less often, and on a raid you have time to hit and control. The MP route lowers the enchanted song's base cost (
Song of Earth at +30: 22 MP instead of 60); the +30 MP for every song and dance on you stays. Enchant Earth, Vitality and Hunter first: they are sung in nearly every party. Sword Muse songs,
Psycho Symphony,
Sword Symphony,
Charm and
Holy Blade cannot be enchanted.
Swordsinger gear
Sword Blunt Mastery adds P. Atk. only with a sword or blunt, so with duals and daggers the Swordsinger loses that bonus. The Sword Singer has no armor mastery, but
Heavy Armor Mastery from the Elven Knight stays — a heavy set gives the most defense. With the Haste SA both the swing and the song cast get faster. D grade goes on at level 20, C at 40, B at 52, A at 61, S at 76.

Where to level a Swordsinger
Zones are picked from player guides and server data. Each one shows the mobs that give the most EXP per point of HP and two items from their drop; the chance is at x1 rate and grows with a boosted drop rate. The zone name is the client hunting zone nearest to the mob's spawn. An Elven Knight in heavy armor manages alone up to level 40, while a Sword Singer fights without a single-target attack skill — a party or a damage-dealing partner pays better. On most servers catacombs and necropolises are open only to Seven Signs participants.
Level 20–40
Best for a Swordsinger: Catacomb of the Heretic and The Pilgrim's Necropolis — the most EXP per HP; The Ant Nest — dense ant spawns. The Catacomb Stakato Soldier in the catacombs drops the

Swordsinger dyes
A fighter has three dye slots, and one stat goes up by +5 at most. The Swordsinger gets no MEN dyes, and INT and WIT do nothing for a fighter, so the choice is between CON, DEX and STR.
Party dyes
Greater Dye of CON (Con+4 Str-4),
Greater Dye of DEX (Dex+4 Str-4) and
Greater Dye of CON (Con+1 Str-1) — STR 27, CON 41, DEX 39 in total. Your own melee damage is not the point in a party, while CON gives HP and DEX gives attack speed, which also means faster songs. The Doom Heavy set already cuts STR by 3, so it pairs better with this set.
Solo dyes
Greater Dye of STR (Str+4 Dex-4),
Greater Dye of CON (Con+4 Dex-4) and
Greater Dye of STR (Str+1 Dex-1) — STR 41, CON 40, DEX 26 in total. STR grows at the cost of DEX, CON grows too: without it a melee knight drops fast.
Subclasses for the Swordsinger
- The first subclass comes at level 75 after Mimir's Elixir and Fate's Whisper, unless the server disables those quests. Each next one only when the previous subclass has reached 75 too; three at most.
- Swordsinger as the main class. You can take any 2nd class except your own, Overlord, Warsmith and Dark Elf classes: the Bladedancer, Shillien Knight, Abyss Walker, Phantom Ranger, Spellhowler, Phantom Summoner and Shillien Elder are closed to an Elf. A Swordsinger cannot take a Bladedancer subclass.
- Swordsinger as a subclass. Dark Elves cannot take it, every other class can.
- What a subclass gives. In Interlude subclass skills work only while that subclass is active, and EXP goes only to the active class.
- Which one to take. The Swordsinger has no growing attack skill, so the usual subclass is something that kills on its own — a nuker or a damage fighter. You level and farm adena on the subclass and come back to the Swordsinger for parties and raids.
Swordsinger in the Olympiad
A noble enters the Olympiad on the main class, one on one, and the Swordsinger sings on itself: Earth and Vitality against a fighter, Warding against a mage, Wind to catch an archer. Control decides the fight:
Arrest holds the target for 8 seconds,
Entangle cuts Speed for 60 seconds from range 600,
Psycho Symphony slows movement, attack and casting.
Song of Silence at level 79 is the main weapon against mages and healers: a 120-second silence, but with an 8-minute reuse you get one per match.
Symbol of Noise is blocked in the Olympiad by the server code.
Elemental Heal heals you with 546 power, but the 5-second cast is easy to interrupt.

📖 — by Interlude code level 1 of the skill is learned from a spellbook; many servers disable spellbooks and it is learned for SP.
Guides for other classes are in the Lineage 2 classes section. Want to play a Swordsinger? Browse the Interlude Lineage 2 servers and Lineage 2 Interlude servers with add-ons lists for rates and opening dates. The full list is on the all L2 servers page.

Where should a Swordsinger level?
20–40 — Catacomb of the Heretic, The Pilgrim's Necropolis, The Ant Nest; 40–52 — Garden of Eva, Catacomb of the Branded, Alligator Island; 52–61 — Catacomb of the Apostate, The Patriot's Necropolis, The Giant's Cave; 61–76 — Tower of Insolence, Swamp of Screams, The Giant's Cave; 76–80 — Imperial Tomb, Hall of Flames, Ketra Orc Outpost. As a Sword Singer a party is better.
Bladedancer or Swordsinger — which is better?
They do not replace each other: songs and dances are different types and stack. The Swordsinger gives the party defense and HP —
Song of Earth P. Def. ×1.25,
Song of Vitality HP ×1.3 — plus critical rate from
Song of Hunter. The Bladedancer gives damage:
Dance of the Warrior P. Atk. ×1.12,
Dance of Fury Atk. Spd. ×1.15. Fighter parties keep both.
What should a Swordsinger learn first?
Songs, as soon as they open: all 11 Sword Singer songs cost 6,747,000 SP. Then
Sword Blunt Mastery and
Magic Resistance, then
Arrest and
Psycho Symphony.
Charm,
Elemental Heal and
Entangle come last.
Which songs does a party need?
Fighters — Earth, Vitality, Hunter and Wind; mages — Warding, Earth, Vitality and Life. At the 3rd class add
Song of Champion for fighters or
Song of Renewal and
Song of Meditation for mages.
Which dyes for a Swordsinger?
In a party — CON+4 STR−4, DEX+4 STR−4 and CON+1 STR−1: CON and DEX go up at the cost of STR. Solo — STR+4 DEX−4, CON+4 DEX−4 and STR+1 DEX−1: STR and CON go up at the cost of DEX. The Swordsinger gets no MEN dyes.
When does the Swordsinger get the 3rd class, and which quest?
From level 76, the Saga of the Sword Muse quest. Sword Muse skills open from level 76 to 80.
Can a Swordsinger level solo?
Yes, but slower than damage classes: at the 2nd class it has no single-target attack skill, the damage comes from regular hits. Your own
Song of Earth and
Song of Life,
Elemental Heal and
Arrest help. Up to level 40 the knight levels solo easily.
Which marks does the Swordsinger 2nd class need?
Mark of Challenger from Trial of the Challenger (from level 35), Mark of Life from Testimony of Life (from 37) and Mark of Duelist from Test of the Duelist (from 39). You change to Sword Singer from level 40.
Can a Swordsinger take a Bladedancer subclass?
No. An Elf cannot take a Dark Elf class as a subclass, and the other way round: neither Bladedancer on a Swordsinger nor Swordsinger on a Bladedancer.
Does the Swordsinger need spellbooks?
By Interlude code — for
Spirit Barrier (from the Enchanted Monstereye) and
Symbol of Noise (from the Velociraptor, which has no spawn in aCis); many servers disable spellbooks.
Divine Inspiration is learned from books only.
