L2 chronicles are the big Lineage 2 updates: more than fifty have come out since 2003, and each one changed classes, zones and the rules of the game. Below is the whole Lineage 2 history on one timeline — by era, with release dates and a button to servers where you can play the chronicle today.
Dates are from official NCSoft and Innova announcements. KR — Korea, NA — North America, EU — Europe, RU — Innova's official servers for the CIS, Ukraine included (there was no separate Ukrainian release). Korea always got a chronicle first, other regions a few months later.

Latest Lineage 2 chronicles and official versions
NCSoft now runs not one game but several branches on a shared client. The "latest chronicles" come out only for Main; the other branches get their own updates.

The mobile games are separate projects: Lineage 2: Revolution by Netmarble (Korea 2016, worldwide 2017) and Lineage 2M by NCSoft (Korea, November 27, 2019).
Lineage 2 Remastered is the working title of a remaster on Unreal Engine 4: in 2019 NCSoft was hiring a technical artist for "L2: Remastered", but no official announcement or release date has appeared in public sources. On private servers, Lineage 2 Remastered is a separate format: classic content on an updated build, often with chronicles unlocked step by step and conveniences of newer versions.
Which chronicle to choose
Interlude and High Five are the most popular L2 chronicles on private servers, but the choice depends on how much time you are ready to play.

How many Lineage 2 chronicles are there?
Counting every big update of the official game, more than fifty. The classic chronicles C1–C5 and Interlude are the first saga and the start of the second; after them came Kamael, Gracia, High Five and the Goddess of Destruction, Epic Tale of Aden and Master Class eras.
What is the latest Lineage 2 chronicle?
Official Lineage 2 (Main) still gets updates — it is in the Master Class era now, and a new Live server opened in North America on September 15, 2026. On private servers Essence and Classic count as the "new" ones, but Interlude has the most servers.
What chronicle is Lineage 2 Classic?
Classic is not a chronicle but a separate branch of the game. It started from the early chronicles and replays their updates one by one: Saviors, Zaken, Antharas, Seven Signs, Secret of Empire, Kamael.
What is the best Lineage 2 chronicle?
It is a matter of taste, but by number of servers Interlude leads, followed by High Five, Interlude+ and Essence. Players pick Interlude for its balance and the familiar three classes, High Five for more classes and zones.
What is The Chaotic Chronicle?
That was the name of the game itself at launch — Lineage II: The Chaotic Chronicle — and of the first saga, which covers Prelude and chronicles C1–C5. The second saga, from Interlude to High Five, is called The Chaotic Throne.
